Former editor-in-chief Thad Orr contacted Jan about the Lucas & Lucas monograph. She asked Thad, “why this landscape designers among all the others that you might write about?” His answer: Lucas & Lucas is the most creative and brilliant, extending the architecture of the house into the garden through thoughtfully selected elements. Published by Princeton Architectural Press in March 2022, Architectural Gardens presents a portfolio of ten lushly illustrated residential landscape projects in California's wine country, each a lesson in the alchemy of garden design, created by landscape architecture firm Lucas & Lucas.
