Jan Hartman conceived the idea for this encyclopedic work, curated the 122 featured architects worldwide, retained leading scholars and practitioners of women in architecture to write the Foreword, Introduction, and essays opening the six generational sections as well as four professional writers to complete the biographies, securing nonprofit co-publisher Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation and also significant philanthropic funds for the book’s production. Featured in Publishers Weekly’s top 10 art, architecture, and photography books for Spring 2022.
